MARINA GATE
The Marina pond is maintained at a level of 5 metres (16.5ft) above
chart datum by means of a sill gate. International Port Traffic
Signals and depth gauges show when entry and exit are possible. This can
be taken as approximately 3 hours either side of high water, the actual
period differing slightly with Springs and Neaps. A digital gauge showing
the depth of water (in metres) above the sill gate is situated at the
entrance to the Marina
ENTRY TO THE MARINA
When the Marina is accessible, craft will be directed by the Port
Control signals—and also the Harbour Control launches at peak periods—to
transit the Commercial harbour and proceed to the area reserved for
visiting craft.
HOLDING AREAS
There is a large holding pontoon to port of the Marina entrance at the
head of the Commercial Harbour. When access to the Marina is possible, the
Marina Staff will assist visiting craft to transit the commercial harbour
when as previously mentioned, the Port Control Signals must be closely
observed
VISITING CRAFT: BERTHS
Visitors are normally accommodated on Piers E, F and G which are
in the northern part of the Marina. Pier E has individual finger pontoons
suitable for craft up to 11 metres in length and Piers F and G are used
for alongside berthing with craft lying 2 or 3 deep
during busy periods.
Visiting craft pontoon space is also
available on the Service Pontoon, situated directly to starboard as you
enter the marina as well as alongside mooring space also available on
the northern side of A pontoon.
The depth in the Marina when closed is
maintained at 2.2m with an
area of up to 3m in the vicinity of the marina entrance and Pontoon A.
Any craft
whose draught is over 2.1m or is over 13m in length should therefore
advise the marina office on or prior to arrival so that a suitable berth
may be allocated
DUES
Dues for visiting craft are payable on arrival and boat owners are
advised that receipts should be conspicuously displayed as proof of
payment and to avoid being unnecessarily disturbed.
