Jersey Customs and Immigration

PROCEDURES

1.  The designated Ports of Entry in Jersey are St Helier or Gorey. All visiting vessels requiring Customs or Immigration clearance must make inward entry at either of these ports.

2.  The only visiting vessels that need formal Customs or Immigration clearance are those which have:-

       a) Non-European Economic Area nationals on board:

     b) Goods to declare. These include prohibited or restricted items such as controlled drugs, firearms or dutiable goods in excess of duty free allowances:

     c) Arrived from outside the European Economic Area:

Vessels meeting any of these criteria must fly the yellow 'Q' flag as soon as the territorial waters of the Bailiwick of Jersey are entered. The 'Q' flag must remain flown until clearance has been received by a Customs or Immigration Officer.

3.  If a 'Q' flag is flown, notice JCE 112 (Customs and Immigration Declaration) should be completed within two hours of arrival and deposited either in the Customs boxes provided at the head of the marina access ramps or at the Customs & Immigration Office, Maritime House, La Route du Port Elizabeth, St Helier

4. Notice JCE 112 must also be completed if required to do so by a Customs or Immigration Officer.

If in doubt, speak to a Customs Officer - the penalties for smuggling are severe.

ANIMALS

Visiting yachtsmen are advised that, as a precaution against rabies, the disembarkation anywhere in the Channel Islands of all animals originating from outside the British Isles is strictly prohibited, except where that animal has been carried by a licensed ferry company. It is also prohibited to allow any such animal to be on deck of a visiting yacht whilst moored in any bay or harbour within the Channel Islands.

N.B. Pets are not allowed in any Marina in St Helier. Boats with animals on board arriving from Guernsey and the U.K. must go to the holding pontoon (No's 4 + 5) outside St. Helier Marina, and inform the Duty Assistant Harbourmaster (AHM) and the Marina Control Office via St Helier Port Control on VHF Channel 14.
