History

Hoisting operations began at Jersey Harbours in 1990 with an 18ton three wheeled ‘Wise’ slipway hoist averaging 190 lifts per year. With the steady increase in demand and general growth within the marine leisure and service markets of the industry this model was replaced in 1998 with a new 16ton slipway model, and joined by the 65ton dock hoist model in 1999. The 16ton slipway machine was replaced in 2008 with a new 25ton capacity slipway unit. This new model, as well as providing extended lift capabilities, also offers full wireless remote control operation.

The boat storage areas were developed and improved during 2007/8 with additional security fencing and gates being installed around extended areas of the current boat storage site. A new electronic security access system is also due to be completed and operational by the end of 2008.
