ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS · A current S.L.S.A. Gold Medallion or A.P.O.L.A. Level 1 Award, or International equivalent recognised by I.L.S. · A current Senior First Aid Certificate. · A current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (incl. Oxygen). · A current motor vehicle drivers licence. · A current I.R.B (Inflatable Rescue Boat) drivers licence. · A current P.W.C. (Jet-ski) operators licence. · Previous experience as a professional Beach Lifeguard. |

PERSONAL QUALITIES, APTITUDE AND SKILLS · Demonstrated ability to work in a team situation. · Ability to work without supervision. · A good sense of humour. · Good numerical and literacy skills. · Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public, including use of public address systems. |

PHYSICAL STANDARDS · Applicants must be able to demonstrate a level of fitness which will enable him/her to pass the following: Ø Complete an 800 metre pool swim in under 14 minutes. Ø Run 2 miles on a hard flat surface within 14 minutes. Ø Demonstrate an ability to rescue and return a patient to shore on a rescue board over 250 metres through surf break Ø Demonstrate ability in a 150 metre rescue tube swim, patient pick up and return to shore. Ø Successfully demonstrate E.A.R. and C.P.R. one and two person. Ø Successfully complete a run/swim/board trial.
